Watch Allie's powerful presentation on female entrepreneurship

“Women are half the world’s population and are half the world’s potential.” –Sadhana Shenoy, TiE Oregon board member.

Truer words were never spoken, which is why the Hubb team was honored to support the first ever Elevate Inclusion Summit in Portland, Oregon. Bringing together entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, startup companies, venture capitalists and investors, the Summit was a beautiful celebration of inclusion and it successfully fostered an important conversation that is overdue among the investment community.

At the Summit, Hubb's awesome #girlboss Allie Magyar shared about her experience managing growth and pursuing funding as a female entrepreneur. You can watch her presentation and check out the slides here:

The rest of the Summit’s speaker lineup of attendees and panelists was a who’s-who list of business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici and Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith kicked off the day, followed by a conversation with Kathryn Finney, founder and managing director of Digitalundivided, an accelerator program for Latina and black women founders.

Hubb is proud to be part of the community of people in the Pacific Northwest who are changing the conversation about inclusive startups, particularly in tech. We are lucky to have a wide variety of support from groups focused on diversity and inclusion, as well as investment groups that care about and support all types of entrepreneurs. Some of the groups in this community include the Female Founders Alliance, PDX Women in Tech, Portland Seed Fund, Oregon Venture Fund, TiE Oregon, Elevate Capital, Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, Portland Business Alliance, Technology Association of Oregon, Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs and Prosper Portland. This is by no means and exhaustive list, but these are examples of community groups that have been part of the Hubb story.

Finally, a big heartfelt thank you from everyone at Hubb to Nitin Rai, founder and managing director of Elevate Capital. Nitin was an early Hubb backer and he continues to offer his support by serving on our board. Thank you, Nitin, and to the rest of the Elevate Capital team for coordinating such an important and beautiful event. You are making a difference in our lives and in our community!
